Welded Assembly Dimensioning
Integrating welded assembly calculation methods into the dimensioning of its structures.
Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to do the following:
- Identify data that will impact dimensioning, taking into account specific features of welded assemblies
- Dimension welded assemblies in line with the current norms and regulations
Date:
29thNov to 2nd Dec 2022 (Tue – Fri)
Time:
15h00 – 18h45 (GMT+8) Singapore / 08h00 – 11h45 (GMT+2) Paris
Pre-requisites
Basic knowledge of analytical calculations (e.g. MR) and finite element calculations is necessary
Pedagogical Means
Technical presentation alternating theory, exercises and case studies, enriched by discussion and questions from the trainees.
Recommended Prior To Course

Who should attend:
This course is designed for managers, engineers, design and calculation department technicians
Course outline:
- Welded assembly calculations: data selection.
- Calculations for static loads:
general methods and methods specific to certain metals; presentation of calculation benchmarking in various manufacturing contexts (Eurocodes, FEM, AWS D1.1, EN 13001, etc.) exercises using finite element analysis to calculate welds: description and illustration using a concrete example.
- Fatigue calculations:
general fatigue calculation method; presentation of various welded structure calculation methods by typology; methods used:
– nominal stress
– geometric stress (hot-spot)
– equivalent local stress (notch)proper use of these methods in line with IIS and Eurocodes recommendations; other methods and benchmarks;using finite element analysis results; exercises.
