IMM Conference

The IMM Corrosion Conference is Malaysia’s premier platform for corrosion, inspection, materials, and integrity professionals. Since its inception in 2016, the conference has brought together industry experts, researchers, and practitioners to share knowledge, showcase emerging technologies, and address real-world corrosion challenges across various industries. The 2026 edition marks the 10th Anniversary of the conference, celebrating a decade of industry collaboration, technical excellence, and advancement in materials integrity. With a theme that emphasizes integrated and holistic corrosion control strategies – combining innovation, digitalization, sustainability, and multidisciplinary approaches, the conference continues to play a vital role in enhancing asset reliability and performance.

As part of this milestone event, Jun Wei Tan, Senior Engineer at Matcor Technology & Services Pte Ltd, will present a paper titled “Ultra-miniature specimen approach for creep remaining life assessment and failure prevention.” The presentation focuses on improving the accuracy of creep life evaluation in high-temperature components. Field metallography replication (FMR), a commonly used non-destructive technique, enables monitoring of creep damage but provides only qualitative insights into remaining life based on observed microstructural changes. It is typically used alongside conventional life assessment methods that rely on minimum material properties defined in international standards; however, such approaches often yield conservative estimates and may underestimate the true remaining life of components. This presentation introduces an advanced methodology aimed at overcoming these limitations, offering a more reliable basis for life assessment and proactive failure prevention.
