Lifting Equipments
Lifting Equipments include:
- Lifts and hoists
- Lifting machines such as cranes, grabs, piling mechanisms and mobile work platforms
- Lifting appliances such as pulley blocks and chain blocks
- Lifting gears such as chains, ropes, webbing and slings
The dynamic and cyclical operation of these equipment, coupled with possible exposure to the weather, render them susceptible to wear, fatigue and corrosion, which can lead to sudden unexpected failures. For example, the sudden failure of a wire rope from corrosion fatigue can lead to the uncontrolled falling of a lifted load, gondola or crane boom. As such, it is important to understand and identify the possible damage mechanisms of such equipment and the proper ways to inspect and monitor their structural integrity.
Our Expertise:
We are a MoM-certified third-party inspection body for lifting equipment. We have also conducted many technical assessments to extend the services lives of cranes and piling equipment which had exceeded their maximum allowable service life under MoM and LTA guidelines.
Our experience in failure investigation of lifting equipment is extensive and broad, covering all kinds of cranes, wire ropes, bolts, webbing and etc, over more than 30 years.
Our Services:
- Technical assessment for extension of service lives
- Condition assessment to check fitness-for-service conditions
- Failure analysis to establish root cause of failure
- Recommendations on inspection and repair solutions
- Training on lifting equipment related subjects such as crane design and damage mechanisms
- Expert witness for litigation and/or insurance claim cases
